Li Hongbo

On a recent trip to Savannah, I took at stop at the SCAD MOA where I had the pleasure of seeing Li Hongbo's beautiful paper sculptures. These filled the entire side gallery space with natural light flowing into the rainbow filled hallway. The exhibition "Irons for Ages, Flowers for the Day" by Beijing-based sculptor takes a look at conflict with war and weapons using paper that has been colored, honey-combed, and laminated. By transforming the weapon, Li Hongbo removes the sinister intent. This creates a calm, sublime space that is full of optimism.

The work was on display from Jan. 30 2015 - Jan. 24 2016
